Low-Cost Spay & Neuter for Decatur County Pet Owners
Affordable surgery at Pets Alive Indiana, just 45 minutes from Greensburg via I-74 West
Greensburg is known for many things — the famous tree growing out of the top of the courthouse tower, the quiet pride of a community that has kept its small-town character intact for generations. What it does not have is an affordable, high-volume spay and neuter option. That is exactly what Pets Alive Indiana provides, just 45 minutes west via I-74. Pet owners from Greensburg, Westport, and St. Paul make that drive regularly, and they come back because the prices are real: $90 for a cat spay or neuter, $130 for a dog. No income verification, no residency requirement — just affordable surgery done right by a team with more than 20 years of experience.
Since 2005, Pets Alive Indiana has completed more than 230,000 spay and neuter surgeries for families all over the state. That volume reflects something important: when cost stops being a barrier, people actually follow through. Decatur County families who have been putting off the procedure because of the expense at a full-service vet have consistently told us that finding Pets Alive changed the equation entirely. Our 4.8-star rating on Google comes from clients who were skeptical at first and then became our most vocal advocates.
From Greensburg, the route is efficient: take I-74 West, then connect to I-65 South and follow SR 46 West into Bloomington. The drive moves quickly on the interstate and deposits you in Bloomington without any tricky navigation. Westport and St. Paul residents can also access I-74 without much trouble, making this one of the cleaner commutes from the eastern side of south-central Indiana. Bring a carrier, plan for a same-day drop-off and pickup, and your pet can be fixed before dinner.

Frequently Asked Questions
About 45 minutes via I-74 West to I-65 South, then SR 46 West into Bloomington. The majority of the drive is interstate highway, so it moves fast and is easy to navigate. Westport and St. Paul are similarly positioned and follow essentially the same route.
No. Pets Alive Indiana serves pet owners from across the state. There are no residency requirements and no income verification. Everyone is welcome, whether you are coming from Greensburg, Westport, St. Paul, or anywhere else in Decatur County.
Not at all. Our prices are low because we are a nonprofit focused on a single service — spay and neuter — which lets us operate efficiently and pass savings to clients. Our surgeons perform a high volume of these procedures, which means they are extremely skilled and practiced. We have performed more than 230,000 surgeries since 2005 and hold a 4.8-star rating on Google from clients across Indiana.
We spay and neuter dogs of all breeds and most sizes. For very large or giant-breed dogs, we ask that you contact us before scheduling to confirm we can accommodate your pet safely. The flat $130 dog price applies to standard-sized dogs; there may be a modest additional fee for dogs over a certain weight. Call us at (812) 349-1349 if you have questions about your specific dog.
Appointment availability varies by season, but we typically have openings within a few weeks. We recommend booking as soon as you are ready rather than waiting, since slots do fill up — especially in spring and early summer. Scheduling online through our booking system is the fastest way to see current availability and lock in a date.
We ask that your pet not eat food after midnight the night before surgery. Water is fine until they leave for the clinic in the morning. Make sure your pet is current on rabies vaccination — if they are not, let us know when you schedule and we may be able to accommodate a vaccine at the time of surgery. Bring your pet in a secure carrier (cats) or on a leash (dogs), and plan to pick them up later the same day.
