Low-Cost Spay & Neuter for Jackson County Pet Owners
Affordable surgery at Pets Alive Indiana, just 30 minutes from Seymour via I-65 North
Seymour is a working-class city where people take care of their families, their homes, and their pets — and where the cost of veterinary care can feel like a real barrier. When spay or neuter surgery at a private clinic runs $350 to $500, it's easy to put it off, and that delay has consequences for the animal and for the community's stray population. Pets Alive Indiana is a nonprofit clinic in Bloomington, just 30 minutes north on I-65 and then west on SR 46, offering $90 cat surgeries and $130 dog surgeries to every pet owner in Jackson County — no income proof required, no residency restrictions.
Since 2005, we've completed more than 230,000 surgeries across south-central Indiana. Pet owners from Seymour, Brownstown, and Crothersville have been making this drive for years, and they keep coming back and sending their neighbors. Our 4.8-star Google rating reflects what we hear directly: the clinic is clean, the staff is kind, and the animals come home healthy. We're a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, which means every surgery we do is mission-driven — not profit-driven.
The route from Seymour is easy: head north on I-65 to the SR 46 exit, then follow SR 46 West into Bloomington. Our clinic is at 2444 S Walnut Street. Drop-off is at 8:00 AM Monday through Thursday and your pet is ready to go home the same afternoon. For Jackson County families who've been waiting on this, booking takes just a few minutes online.

From Seymour, Pets Alive Indiana is approximately 30 minutes away. Take I-65 North from Seymour toward Bloomington, exit onto SR 46 West, and follow SR 46 into the city. Our clinic is at 2444 S Walnut Street in Bloomington. The interstate portion of the drive is smooth and quick, and the SR 46 stretch brings you straight to our door. Most Seymour residents find it a manageable same-morning round trip.
No — we don't require income verification, tax forms, or proof of residency from any county. Our low prices are open to every pet owner who makes the drive to Bloomington. Whether you're in Seymour, Brownstown, or Crothersville, you pay the same $90 for a cat or $130 for a dog as anyone else who comes through our door.
Yes, every surgery at Pets Alive Indiana is performed by a licensed veterinarian. Our low prices are the result of our nonprofit focus on high-volume spay and neuter — not a reduction in surgical quality or professional credentials. Anesthesia monitoring and post-operative care are included in the flat price, and our surgical team has performed more than 230,000 procedures since 2005.
The flat rate of $90 (cats) or $130 (dogs under 100 lbs) covers the surgery, anesthesia, and monitoring. There are two optional add-ons: a pain medication and recovery cone package for $20, which we recommend, and a rabies vaccine if your pet isn't current, available at the appointment. There are no surprise fees or administrative charges tacked on at drop-off.
Our clinic operates Monday through Thursday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. We are closed Friday through Sunday. Surgeries happen during weekday morning hours, so you'll drop off at 8:00 AM and pick up the same afternoon. If your work schedule makes weekday appointments difficult, we suggest requesting the earliest available Monday slot so you lose minimal work time.
The most critical preparation step is fasting: no food after midnight the night before surgery. Small amounts of water are acceptable until you leave home in the morning, but stop water access about 30 minutes before departure. Bring your pet secured in a carrier (cats) or on a leash (dogs), your payment, and proof of a current rabies vaccine. You'll receive a detailed pre-surgery checklist when your booking is confirmed.
